Celebrating National Breastfeeding Week 2024

Did you know that a mother who births her baby by cesarean can often have immediate skin-to-skin contact with her baby and even breastfeed right in the operating room? She can! At Baby Friendly hospitals, immediate, uninterrupted skin-to-skin contact and support to breastfeed as soon as possible after birth, whenever possible, are part of the plan — and mothers who birth via cesarean are not left out. It’s one of the important ways Baby Friendly facilities support all new families for the best possible start.
