Are you a health care provider that is looking for ways to step up for breastfeeding? Here are a few easy ways for you to start.
Find a group of breastfeeding parents and participate in the Quintessence Challenge. The Quintessence Challenge is a fun “competition” where geographic areas (province, state, or territory) “compete” to have the most breastfeeding babies, as a percentage of the birthrate, “latched on” on a selected day any day between October 1-7. The goal of the challenge is to celebrate breastfeeding and provides and opportunity to provide education and for peers to support each other in a social way.
Boycott products that provide misleading information or aggressively market infant formula and don’t distribute formula samples or coupons to new parents.
Finally, make sure you do your due diligence and review literature and resources before sharing with parents.
